In my proposed research which is, ” The Level of Burnout Among Nurses During the Covid-19 Pandemic,” I will be utilizing several quantitative methods for my data analysis. The first one will be the t-test, this will be done since I will be comparing different variables or populations in nursing with regards to their age, gender and years of experience and how this affects the level of burnout. From this method, I will hopefully be able to draw conclusions based on the data that I have
I will also utilize variance analysis or the Analysis of Variance, ANOVA, in here certain differences or similarities, depending on what will be seen on the findings among the different nurse populations based on age, gender and years of experience. The respondents in the research will be answering the Maslach Burnout Inventory, this will determine levels of burnout. This set of questionnaire has three sub dimensions which consist of the following: occupational exhaustion, depersonalization and personal accomplishment assessment. I will be able to come up with a data if there are differences in the results based on the different groups mentioned.

Research Question: Among night shift nursing staff, does the presence of a night shift unit educator providing hands on education and mentoring increase staff satisfaction?
As I have continued to develop my research proposal, I am looking to establish that the presence of a nightshift educator would increase staff satisfaction. In a perfect world, I would make this a two-part survey, surveying staff before the implementation of a night shift educator and after. However, due to the constraints of creating this proposal for the class, my goal is to compare responses between dayshift staff nurses’ and nightshift staff nurses’ educational opportunities, mentoring opportunities and job satisfaction. Since I am looking to compare two groups with multiple variables, I believe using the MANOVA comparison would be the most appropriate data analysis tool. “When you have a number of criteria or outcome variables that are conceptually related, instead of analyzing each one separately using ANOVA, you can begin the analysis with a MANOVA” (Tappen, 2015, pg. 369). I feel this is the best test since I am comparing dayshift versus nightshift nursing staff based on multiple variables. I welcome any feedback on my chosen data analysis tool.

My area of research is childhood obesity. The research questions for this topic are as follows: How do regular physical exercises prevent the development of health conditions associated with obesity and improve the quality of life in children with obesity within a year? How do healthy diets reduce the risk of childhood obesity and its associated health conditions for children ages 5 to 18 years old?
Two types of variables exist: independent and dependent. Independent variables are those that can stand on their own in research, whereas dependent variables are those that cannot (Chen et al., 2018). In this study, obesity and gender are examples of independent variables. Since gender cannot be changed, it is treated as an independent variable. The outcomes of treatment depend on factors like the patient’s level of physical activity, diet, quality of life, and other factors. Quality of life is a dependent variable because it depends on other factors like underlying health conditions, access to treatment services, and lifestyle behaviors like physical activity and diet.
A research hypothesis is a concise and specific statement regarding the probable outcomes of a scientific study (Szucs & Ioannidis, 2017). The specific hypotheses for this study are that healthy diets reduce the risk of developing obesity and its associated health conditions in children and adolescents aged 5 to 18 and that regular physical activity prevents the development of obesity-related health conditions and improves the quality of life for children and adolescents aged 5 to 18. The null hypotheses for this study are that healthy diets do not reduce the risk of developing obesity and its associated health conditions in children and adolescents aged 5 to 18 and that regular physical activity does not prevent the development of health conditions associated with obesity and improve the quality of life in children and adolescents aged 5 to 18.

Well, I am going to be honest here, with any research proposal, I feel I must amend my research question to be able to reflect the data I am intending to collect as the project has evolved.

Null Hypothesis: Having an educator present on nursing units to provide hands on education and mentoring will have no effect on staff satisfaction.
