Baumeister, a professor of social psychology at Florida State University, wrote an article entitled â€œBad is Stronger than Goodâ€ in which he noted, â€œResearch over and over again shows … bad emotions, bad parents and bad feedback have more impact than good ones. Bad impressions and bad stereotypes are quicker to form and more resistant to disconfirmation than good ones.â€ Baumeister and others believe that is because the brain does more work processing “negative” information than it does “positive information.
