1. Regress Conflict on coital frequency, female’s age, and number of children. Using the couples dataset.
a. Interpret all b’s and the intercept. Tell me what is significant and why.
b. Tell me the R squared interpret it. Tell me how you would calculate it.
c. Tell me the F statistic for the model, its degrees of freedom, and whether it is significant.
d. Tell me the model variance
e. Next get the standard deviations for Conflict on coital frequency, female’s age, and number of children. Convert all the b’s in the model into standardized b’s. Tell me which coefficient has the largest effect on conflict? Interpret the standardized coefficient that has the largest effect on conflict.
f. Next, get standardized coefficients using STATA’s post estimation command beta. Did you get the same standardized coefficents (you should).
2. Center coital frequency, female’s age, and children (hint: create centered variables using the command gen cfemage=femage – mean of femage). Rename the centered variables cfemage, cchildren, ccoitfreq. Re-run the model from question 1.
