recent years, statistical analysis has been widely used in health care organizations to gauge

healthcare systems’ performance. The human services agencies normally use the statistics

assessed on healthcare to measure the performance results and the entire population (Joyia et al,

2016). Pharmaceutical industries and the hospitals also use statistics to examine the risks linked

to the patient by establishing effectiveness in the various treatments used. Statistics can help

understand a lot of patients, and as a result, it is much easier to innovate new treatment methods.

Most companies that are involved in healthcare struggle o ensure that the goods and

services are delivered on time. Through this, statistics can help in the assessment of the success

and the failures of the company. The managers for quality improvement can create standard

service of excellence that can gauge the results. When such companies have reliable statistical

information, the viability and the overall growth of the health care companies can be improved.

Data collection can also be used in various clinical trials used for the new technologies and the

treatment that will be used to find the benefits alongside the risks of the product.

Statistical information can also be used to increase the safety of the community. This is

an important aspect, especially in the identification of effective treatments that will help people.

The healthcare personnel must carefully examine healthcare statistics using the treatment that has

been effective in the experimental evidence to attain their research studies’ impact. Most medical

personnel have to use statistical information to assess the effectiveness of the interventions and

Statistics in healthcare have a great impact on improving the leadership of the healthcare

institution. Skills in statistics are required, especially in the evaluation of the healthcare data in

the healthcare industry. Leaders in the healthcare industry have to conduct scientific research and

make decisions that impact the healthcare sector. Thereby, leaders will use statistics in answering

the complex questions that are affecting the healthcare industry. Also, statistics help healthcare

leaders predict the possible results, and as a result, the leaders can make decisions in the

healthcare sector.

Most healthcare institutions do not take part in formal research because they do not read

nor interpret research (Sharples. 2018). The healthcare sector is constantly changing, and the

treatments and diagnostic techniques are also changing. In recent years, new diseases have

developed, and thereby, statistics is required to keep track of the rate through which new diseases

emerge. Also, there are new developments in the research that require one to appraise the

literature and assess the reliability and applicability of a certain patient. Therefore, all these

aspects require statistical literacy. Also, healthcare promotion can be achieved through statistics

(Wang et al, 2018). A statistician in the healthcare sector can use the information to provide

solutions to rational decision-making. Thereby, health statisticians have to interact with the

Acquiring statistical data in the healthcare institution needs a different set of public and

private data collection systems. The used systems comprise the records of billings, health

surveys, and medical records of the hospitals, health, plans, physicians, and other medical

entities. Ethnicity, race, and language data should also be collected to get comprehensive

information about the patients and enrollees in healthcare systems. Healthcare information

technology is used to develop the obtaining data from a personal healthcare record. The data

should be well incorporated into the running data to protect the patient. Also, the knowledge in

statistics can be applied in a wide range of specialties and settings. The knowledge can be used to

change and improve the processes in the healthcare institution. Research on the various medical

fields determines which medicine or intervention performs best when put in the human body.

When the human body is analyzed statistically, the psychologists get an easy time understanding

the human body.

Examples of statistical concepts applicable to healthcare include hypothesis testing,

which may be used to investigate claims of the safety and effectiveness of a drug among other

applications. Descriptive statistics may also be used to calculate various measures such as the

mean and standard deviation of the number of patients in a facility in a day. Another example is

the use of regression models for predictive analytics. There are many more other uses of statistics

in healthcare.
