1 Title of Paper Student Name Walden University Class Number, Section Number, Class Name Date of Submission Title of Paper Introduction to topic that gives the audience and idea of what you will be discussing in the paper. This should be a brief paragraph that provides an overview of the key points that will be addressed. This section should be concluded with a purpose statement. The purpose of this paper is …consider the intent of the application and list all requirements. PICOT Question Restate your PICOT question with an explanation of why this topic is important to nursing practice. I would recommend citing a couple of the course learning resources about how PICOT questions are developed and why they are important. Remember that you need to cite at least three course learning resources in this paper to earn full points. This is in addition to the five studies you will cite. Literature Review Begin with a paragraph about how you completed the literature review. For example…A literature review was done using Medline, CINAHL, Google Scholar, and Cochrane Review Databases from the time period of 2010 to present. The following key words and Boolean search phrases were used. Remember that you need to have at least five relevant and current studies to review. I would cite course learning resources on conducting a literature review and search. Keep in mind that these need to be research studies not just informational articles. Finish your paragraph with a transition statement to move to the next subsections. For example…I completed a review of five current studies and found that three key themes were apparent in the literature related to my PICOT question iincluding theme one, theme two, and theme three. A summary of the studies I reviewed is included as Appendix A (attach summary after reference section). Theme One (change this to match the theme) Describe one of the key findings from the literature review. You are expected to synthesize the information you read. Do not just list each study and summarize it. This will reduce your points. You need to understand the five studies and be able to discuss them as a body of information rather than as individual articles. Theme Two (change this to match the theme) Discuss the second theme. Again, make sure you are referencing all relevant articles. Avoid using quotes from the articles. You should be paraphrasing the important information as it relates to your PICOT question. Theme Three (change this to match the theme) If there are three themes discuss the next theme here. You may have more than three or only two. It depends on what you find in the evidence. I recommend reading other literature reviews so you can see how authors evaluate research into themes or key findings. Also, make sure that you are addressing any inconsistencies in the information you found between studies as well as where the researchers agreed with each other. Preliminary Conclusions Discuss whether or not there is strong evidence for a practice change based on the evidence you identified. If not, what further research needs to be completed before a practice change could be recommended. Summary Write a one paragraph summary of the main points of the paper. This is not an area for adding new information. That should be in the body of your paper. Do not forget to appropriately cite in references in this section too. This is a good place to pull in your course learning resources again. References Last name, X. (Year of publication). Name of online article. Source.
