Dear all, Just a heads-up that Caroline West’s paper, “Words That Silence”, contains examples of racial epithets and descriptions of racial hatred. I think it’s a fantastic paper that helps us understand why racist hate speech could be antithetical to the right to free speech, but it’s OK not to read it if this makes you too uncomfortable. The lecture will not contain such explicit examples.
